Now Enrolling!

Magnolia Academy is a homeschool academy. Magnolia Academy was built by former public education teachers who saw a need for change in how we educate children. Starting with their children they built a small co-op. Magnolia Academy decided to grow and expand after hearing other parents say, “I would love to homeschool, but I am not a teacher.” Magnolia Academy uses a homeschool curriculum and years of teaching experience to bring the two together. Magnolia Academy strives to bring home life back to the parents without the pressure of academics. Magnolia Academy strives to bridge the gap so every child can succeed.

Stop worrying about how you're going to teach your child from home.

Let us do all of the teaching when it works in your schedule.

At Magnolia Academy, we strive to give kids a different educational experience. Here is some information about Magnolia Academy and how we are reconceptualizing education.

Foster Independence:

Education is completely reconceptualized by our emphasis at Magnolia Academy. Magnolia Academy focuses on the things that will positively impact life for your child. It is not just about academics. Building your student to foster independence so that they can overcome everything that life throws at them. Students at Magnolia Academy will develop the skills needed to think for themselves and learn to work independently to be problem solvers.

Individual Growth:

Your student will be tested within the curriculum in each subject area and not through standardized testing. This approach enables each student to be placed within the curriculum based on their ability. Simply put, if your student excels at math, but needs extra help in the language arts, we will accomplish the growth together. Depending on their strengths and growth areas, a child can be at different ability levels for each subject. We encourage students within each subject to learn and develop at their own pace. In the areas in which they naturally excel, Magnolia Academy will be able to let students soar all while gaining feedback in the areas in which they need to practice.

Flexibility:

We believe kids should be kids and have flexibility through play. This approach allows your child to complete their work anytime of the day and in chunks as needed. Being online allows you to create a schedule that works for you. If you have doctors appointments, sporting events, or just want to sleep in a little, go for it! That’s the beauty of our flexible online schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Magnolia Academy will be using a combination of curriculums.

For Language Arts, Math, and Science, we use The Good and the Beautiful. This curriculum was designed to incorporate the good and the beautiful of the world within the literature. It has been a tried and true curriculum in home schools and private schools across America. The Good and the Beautiful incorporates many of the beliefs we have at Magnolia Academy.

For Social Studies, we use Notgrass. This curriculum has a spiral approach and encompasses a lot of experiments and STEM activities.

Lastly, for our elective students learn sign language taught by our very own teachers and student teachers.

Students can enroll at any given time throughout the school year. The curriculum consists of 120 lessons. When a student enrolls they will begin on lesson 1 and complete the lessons until the curriculum is finished. If a student enrolls mid-school year they will not finish their 120 lessons on a traditional school year calendar. When a student completes the curriculum they will move to the next level no matter what time of the year it is. This is the beauty of homeschooling. We go at the child’s pace!

Each day your child will log into their dashboard to complete the daily lessons in language arts, math, science, and social studies. The sign language course is done on a weekly basis. When your child completes the daily lessons he/she will send a picture of his/her work to their teacher who will then grade the work and give feedback.

When your child completes the daily lessons he/she will send a picture of his/her work to their teacher who will then grade the work and give feedback. This approach takes a little extra time on the part of both the student and teacher, but the primary reason is that the teacher can see the work and ensure the student is understanding and learning. If the teacher feels your student is struggling, an individual tutoring session can ensure your student does not fall behind and is successful.

Additionally, your student will be given a set time weekly to meet with the teacher. This is an opportunity to discuss their work, set goals, and get to know your student personally.

At Magnolia Academy we strive to meet students where they are. This can be above grade level or below grade level. If you feel your child is above grade level or a little behind, please contact us before enrolling. We can discuss your child’s needs and help you place your child in the grade level that is appropriate. *It is okay for your child to move forward or backward to ensure he/she is learning.

Our online teachers are available Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-2:30pm CST to assist in any way. This could be from helping with a lesson or troubleshooting technology. If there is a need for extensive one to one tutoring, an appointment will be set up for the teacher to call and work exclusively with your child. There is no fee for this additional time.

The beauty of being online is flexibility. We ask that you make a schedule at home for your student and try to stick to it the best you can, but we understand life happens. Kids get sick, have long weekends of sports, traveling, etc., or any of a hundred other things can happen which require a flexible schedule.  If your child misses a daily lesson Monday-Thursday, he/she can make that up on Fridays or over the weekend. When your child meets weekly with their teacher he/she can set up a goal to get caught up and back on track!

Our curriculum does not follow Common Core standards, but it does match or exceed most national public school standards.

No. At Magnolia Academy our goal is not to teach doctrines specific to a particular Christian denomination, but to teach general principles of moral character such as honesty and kindness.  Bible verses are included in the lessons which focus on biblical principles, high moral character and making good choices. Our teachers and staff are Christians with strong beliefs which is why we use a curriculum that promotes biblical standards.

Yes! Our courses feature a significant amount of diversity embedded right into our coursebooks. Students will learn about different cultures and art.  Due to our religious beliefs we believe we are all made uniquely and wonderfully made in God’s image and we keep our instruction focused on that philosophy.

Currently Magnolia Academy offers grades 4-6. 7th grade and higher will be available in the 2024-2025 school year. When your child reaches high school he/she will complete a high school curriculum that will be tailored specifically to him/her. When that time comes we will set a schedule and classes appropriate for each student. All students who complete the requirements will receive a high school diploma from Magnolia Academy.
