At Magnolia Academy, we strive to give kids a different educational experience. Here is some information about Magnolia Academy and how we are reconceptualizing education.
Accreditation:
Magnolia Academy does not believe in government agencies deciding if we meet their standards of accreditation. Magnolia Academy is not accredited, yet our students outperform public school standards of mediocrity. Magnolia Academy is leading a new normal in education and our students are thriving. We embrace a back to basics approach to learning and it works. Magnolia Academy is not accredited and has no plans of becoming accredited in the future. Our teachers are certified and we have a certified principal on our staff. We will award a homeschool diploma when students complete the required courses for graduation. If your child returns to public school coming from a homeschool, accredited private, or non-accredited private school, they will be tested using the latest released state standardized assessment. Students can still attend a junior college or a four-year college with placement testing, SAT, or ACT scores.
Standardized State Testing:
At this time, Magnolia Academy is not accredited therefore we are not required to give state mandated testing or record keep attendance for state purposes.
Daily Schedule:
Research shows that students get “burn out” the same as adults in the workforce. Therefore, our school day/week will be shorter to allow students to have a mental and physical break throughout the school year. We follow a 4 day school week. Teachers are available to assist Monday-Thursday 8:30-2:30. By appointment for after school hours and Fridays.
Additional Materials/Supplies:
Throughout the year students will be engaging in different activities such as science and social studies projects that may require additional materials and supplies. These are in addition to the curriculum they will receive at the time of enrollment. Some items you may have laying around the house and some may need to be purchased. A supply list will be provided within each subject area and lesson.
Discipline
Magnolia Academy is designed to ensure the highest quality of learning. We understand that students have bad days, just like anyone else, but discipline will be fully enforced. This includes online misconduct towards teachers and abuse of online learning. If a student is determined to be a major discipline problem, they will be dismissed from Magnolia Academy.
